Three stars is tough. This place is tired. I cannot eat at this restaurant. Only take out. It..is ... icky.
The food is good. It is not a giant salt shaker. Their egg rolls are huge. The wings are decent. I like their fried rice. I just know the place is..icky so I get take out for my daughter because she likes it.
Mommy always said..dirty bathroom..dirty kitchen.
Fix the place up and it would be ever so much better. -

Oh boy, I remember when this place was THE place to go for Chinese food. Clearly it isn't any longer. The decor was redone about 24 years ago (I know because I worked there) and it has not been touched since. It is tired, rundown and grungy looking. The buffet was sparse and sketchy with its crockpot of fried rice. There was only one other family there and now I see why.
The duck sauce stays on the table and it spoils. It needs to be refrigerated! The cleanliness was spotty, the lighting poor and the wallpaper and flooring had seen better days. With other choices in the area there is absolutely nothing that would bring me back or recommend this place to others! -

One of the best Chinese restaurants in Maine, friendly and accommodating service and good food. My favorites are sesame chicken, fried dumplings, and crab rangoons. They recently renovated the bar area so there is more room for customers.

Canton Village is an excellent restaurant. It is modest and tucked away a bit but don't judge by superficial appearances. Prices are fair and the food is very good. We never eat from the buffet but always order from the menu. It is freshly prepared and tasty. The vegetables are fresh, diverse, and there is little, if any, MSG used in any dish - a big plus. The portions are large. We frequently get tofu or shrimp with garlic sauce - great dishes. The hot and sour soup is among the best we've ever had anywhere. Egg rolls and dumplings are also excellent. The only downside is the lack of brown rice as an option to white. The wine is good and a great value.
A family business, the staff are always very, very friendly, polite, efficient, quick, and helpful. We have been served by the three generations and appreciate their kindness and hospitality. Even though they do not know us, they always welcome us with a smile and friendly greeting. Especially in a small town like Gardiner, this place is a gem, but it would be a recommended restaurant in any location. Outstanding! Try it for yourself. -
